way-harsh-tai:

Everything Beyonce does is careful and thought out. Her entire image is perfection crafted from planning ahead. She does not ‘wing it’ or throw things into her performances and public appearances ‘just because’.

What she did at this award show was amazing, especially because of how intentional and thought out it clearly was.

Feminism is a scary word for a lot of people. Many women are afraid of calling themselves feminist because they think it implies anger, hatred of men, or a rejection of traditional femininity.

Beyonce presented everyone watching with two distinct images of what many viewers viewed as two very different women. There is the strong, independent FEMINIST. She is the woman who likes being in control and being in the spotlight. Then there is the WIFE and MOTHER. She is soft, sweet, smiling at the husband and child you can tell she loves and values so much.

For every girl watching who was afraid to be a feminist, afraid to be powerful, because of what she thought she would lose, this is an incredible message. You can be all the things you want to be. You can be both. Feminists can have amazing happy, full lives full of both traditional and modern womanhood.

Feminism means gender should not be a source of persecution or a restriction of your choices. Feminism mean the type of person you should be is based on what you value, not what outside forces pressure you to value because of your gender or biological sex. Shout at the top of your lungs that you are a feminist and proud. Then go and be the exact person that you want to be.

My experience meeting Sam Gordon:
me: “SAM! YOU’RE AWESOME I LOVE YOU!”
Sam: “Thanks!”
someone behind me: “can I have your autograph Sam?”
Sam: “I don’t have an autograph!”

This story makes her one of my favorite people ever!

“I don’t have an autograph!” Sam you are amazing!

Never before have I wanted to be best friends with someone under the age of ten. Until now.

uswnt goalkeepers - mia hamm

On June 8 however, her versatility was put to the test during the USA’s first round 2-0 victory over Denmark. Goalkeeper Briana Scurry was ejected in the 84th minute for a highly-contested hand-ball infraction outside the US goal box. Since there were no other allowable substitutions to be made (the US had previously used their allotment of three) Mia Hamm was chosen to step into goal.
"I was scared to death," she said as her eyes widened. “I felt like ‘Mia Campos.’ But it’s really a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I hope I don’t have to do it again." Despite her misgivings, Hamm performed admirably, posting a save in the last minute of the match. She was determined not to let anything get by her.

There was also a free-kick that tried her nerves late in the match. “I was so out of position,” she said rolling her eyes, “I was hiding behind the wall. I didn’t know what I was doing. I’m just glad the girl missed the goal!” She now knows how the other half lives.
The experience has given Hamm more respect for goalkeepers. “The goal is so much bigger when you’re inside it than when you’re shooting at it,” Hamm said prophetically. “You’ve got to get inside it to see what it’s like.”

FIFA: THE WORLD CUP SHOULD BE PLAYED ON NATURAL GRASS

According to the timeline, the petition started over a year ago and i’m beyond saddened that we haven’t hit 5000 signatures yet.

I want to highlight

Artificial turf has been blamed for increased injuries on sporting fields, including more sprained ankles, concussions, turf burns, and an injury known as "turf toe." Overheating is also a health concern for athletes since temperatures can be hotter on artificial surfaces than on natural grass. Finally, turf is widely known to alter the speed and quality of play on the field.

Here’s a depiction of what happens

On top of the health hazards, it alters the game. Players would be more wary about slides and tackles. You won’t see any dolphin RVP headers here. No slidey celebrations.

Again, please sign the petition:
